Kashgar City Guide
Kashgar city is the political, economic, cultural, transportation and religious center of Kashgar Prefecture. It is located southwest of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, northeast foot of Pamir Plateau, western edge of Tarim Basin, and middle flow of Kizil River. It is 1473 km to Urumqi which is the capital city of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Kashgar city covered an area of 294.21 square km, with total population of 351874 people which includes Uyghur, Han Chinese, Hui, Uzbek, Kirgiz, Tajik and …, total of 13 nationalities living in Kashgar city.
Topography of Kashgar city is north high and south low, highest of 1502 and lowest is 1264 meters, with average of 1289.5 meters above the sea level. There are two rivers flows through from two side of Kashgar city which is the Tuman River and Kizil River. Kashgar city climate belongs to continental arid climate with four distinctive seasons, which is hot and long summer and short winter.
